Weekly fishing report For the week ending 30/05/19

A Beautiful morning on Friday kicked off the weekend and saw Keith Fenton catch 7 and lose 3 all in the gin pool , Keith caught on blood worm and spiders either on the drop or on the uptake, the gin pool has fished well all week. Robin Vale had a good day catching his bag limit of 10 from the lower lodge pool mostly on a green dabbler dry fly and a size 16 buzzer. Harry Danter who is new to fly fishing and only his second visit to Bigwell caught 3 Rainbows all on a green Damsel. On Sunday there was a westerly wind blowing which the fish seem to like it, Matthew Bates fishing on the lower lodge pool  landed 4 and  lost 2 using mostly his black penal fly, Mike Bailey from Cardiff landed 8 including a 7lb 5oz Blue trout from the gin pool caught on a pheasant tail nymph then released successfully. Roland Beddard from Brecon caught 8 over the course of the day including a beautiful 6lb2oz Rainbow using his 4# rod, floating line and 3.5lb leader and a size 16 pheasant tail nymph, we have entered this fish into this months  Troutmasters competition . Our pools remain cool and clear with a good run through of spring water which helps keep our fish in excellent condition. Popular flies this week have been pheasant tail nymph, green dabbler, snake flies, green damsels, spiders, egg flies and small buzzers, we are open every day from 7.30.
